PROBLEM TO BE SOLVED: To provide agents which inhibit tau protein aggregation causing neurodegenerative diseases.SOLUTION: A tau protein aggregation inhibitor containing phorbol ester as an active ingredient is produced. Preferably the phorbol ester is phorbol 12-Millis treat 13-acetate.
