The purpose of the present invention is to provide a phthalocyanine compound which is halogen-free and has a green hue and which, when used in producing the green pixels of a color filter, attains a high brightness and excellent coloring power. It was found that the phthalocyanine compound according to the present invention is halogen-free, has a green hue, and, when used in producing the green pixels of a color filter, attains a high brightness and excellent coloring power. This phthalocyanine compound can be used as a general-purpose colorant for a wide range of applications including printing inks, coating materials, color plastics, toners, and ink-jet inks, besides being usable in color filter applications.
