The invention aims at improving the efficacy and protection induced by DNAvaccinationagainst viruses of the family of Paramyxoviridae and against the herpes virus,in pets andsport animals. The improvement of DNA vaccination is achieved either byformulating thevaccine with a cationic lipid containing a quaternary ammonium salt, DMRIE, orbymodifications in the nucleotide sequence coding for the antigen of interest inparticular ofdeletions of the fragment of the nucleotide sequence coding for thetransmembranedomain of the antigen of interest, and/or insertions of introns and/orinsertions of nucleotidesequences coding for the signal peptides, or by adding GM-CSF, or bycombinationsthereof. The invention also concerns the resulting vaccines.
