A rail (5) is either attached to the ceiling of the byre or joined to posts positioned on top of the bottom grid. A carrying arm (1), holding a drum (2) rotating around a vertical axle at its lower end, is guided along the rail (5) with a rope moved by a pulley system. When the system is activated the feed located at the floor is pushed by two deflectors towards the drum (2). The friction causes the drum (2) to rotate and to move the feed towards the feeding platforms. A small wheel (3) is attached laterally to the device in order to support the drum (2).
