Disclosed is a process challenge device for use in testing the effectiveness of an automated apparatus for the cleaning of medical instruments. The PCD is flexible and defines a main body having a test soil material disposed thereon. A plurality of attachment formations project from the main body which may be used to mount the PCD directly to an instrument carrier for an automated cleaning apparatus by cooperation with a mesh of the instrument carrier. Also disclosed is a method for testing the effectiveness of an automated apparatus for the cleaning of medical instruments wherein the PCD is directly mounted to the instrument carrier.L'invention concerne un dispositif de mise à l'épreuve de procédé destiné à être utilisé pour tester l'efficacité d'un appareil automatisé pour le nettoyage d'instruments médicaux. Le dispositif de mise à l'épreuve est souple et définit un corps principal sur lequel repose un matériau de test des souillures. Plusieurs formations de fixation dépassent du corps principal qui peut être utilisé pour monter le dispositif de mise à l'épreuve directement sur un support d'instrument pour l'appareil de nettoyage automatisé par coopération avec une maille du support d'instrument. L'invention concerne également une méthode permettant de tester l'efficacité d'un appareil automatisé pour le nettoyage d'instruments médicaux, le dispositif de mise à l'épreuve étant directement monté sur le support d'instrument.
