The present invention provides an aerosol composition comprising copper and plant extract for the treatment of infections by pathogen agents of the respiratory system. The plant extract selected from but not limited to Ocimum tenuiflorum (Tulsi) extract. The method for preparing the aerosol composition the steps: boiling the leaves and branches of plant for one hour, allowed to turn green mixing the copper salt for making hypertonic salt solution and allowed to cool down and collecting the upper layer of solution in sterile container. The aerosol composition is also delivered locally using copper nebulizer based on the principle of JET nebulization in which baffle of copper in the shape of round plate is used for the generation of aerosol.
