PURPOSE: A functional food composition containing ergosterol peroxide is provided to reduce cholesterol level, and to effectively prevent adult diseases. CONSTITUTION: A functional food composition contains ergosterol peroxide which is isolated from Lentinula endodes, Agaricus blazei M., Polyporus umbellatus, Coriolus versicolor, Fomes fomentarius, and Phellinus baumii Pilat. The food composition is gum. The functional gum contains 21-29 wt% of gum base, 0.1-0.6 wt% of softener, 40-55 wt% of D-sorbitol, 2-10 wt% of isomalt, 5-20 wt% of xylitol, 2-4 wt% of ergosterol peroxide, 0.001-0.002 wt% of aspartame, 1-2.5 wt% of flavoring agent, 0.1-2 wt% of calcium phosphate tribasic, 0.04-0.2 wt% of dextrase, and 1-2 wt% of colorant.본 발명은 에르고스텔류를 함유하는 기능성 식품조성물에 관한 것이다. 식품조성물에 버섯으로부터 추출된 에르고스테롤 퍼옥시드를 포함하므로써, 에르고스테롤 퍼옥시드에 의한 항암활성을 기대할 수 있고, 동물성 지방의 섭취가 많은 현대인에게 동물성 콜레스테롤 대신에 에르고스테롤을 공급하여 건강에 도움이 된다.
