The invention relates to methods for operating a mobile terminal comprising a radio-operated device for creating a telephone connection or data link and a capacitive touch screen. The invention further relates to applications designed to carry out said methods as well as to mobile terminals, in particular smart phones. All of the subjects of the invention are designed to be suitable for senior citizens and involve displaying information on the touch screen, inputting information on the touch screen of a mobile terminal, a sleep mode, an emergency call function, and configuring a mobile terminal. The methods of the invention are preferably used in conjunction with a mobile terminal that has a pivotable keyboard which is placed on the touch screen.
