PROBLEM TO BE SOLVED: To provide a promoter useful for developing a plant having improved nutrient absorbency from soil and root-specifically inducing expression in the plant. SOLUTION: The promoter is composed of any DNA of following (a) to (d): (a) a DNA having a specific base sequence, (b) a DNA composed of a base sequence in which one or several bases are deleted, substituted, added or inserted in the base sequence in (a) and functioning as the promoter root-specifically inducing the expression in the plant, (c) a DNA hybridizing to a DNA composed of a base sequence complementary to the base sequence in (a) under stringent conditions and functioning as the promoter root-specifically inducing the expression in the plant and (d) a DNA composed of a part of the base sequence in (a) and functioning as the promoter root-specifically inducing the expression in the plant.
