PROBLEM TO BE SOLVED: To provide an underpants type clothing article configured to adjust a size, and preventing an outer shape profile of a fastening tape for the size adjustment from being recognized clearly at a glance.SOLUTION: One waist area 15 has elasticity to be stretchable at least in a lateral direction and a plurality of gathers 40 are formed on a clothing-facing plane. Size adjusting means 12 includes: a fastening tape 50 that has the length direction, a proximal part 55 fixed to the clothing-facing plane, and a distal part 56 located at an opposite side of the proximal part in the length direction and allowing fastening and grasping and a cover member 51 having a covering part 67 for covering at least the proximal part 56 of the fastening tape 50, and a free end through which the distal part 56 of the fastening tape 50 can pass. The covering part 67 has elasticity to be stretchable at least in the lateral direction and a plurality of gathers 70 are formed on the outer surface thereof.
