Combustion of fossil and harvested material is economical and environmentally friendly in an alternating twin-chamber retort, providing fuel gas for a diesel engine generator, and waste heat recovery
Installation for economical and environmentally friendly combustion of fossil and harvested material uses a two-chamber retort, in an alternating charging and on-line cycle, providing fuel gas to an internal combustion engine. An isolating valve (16) is used to enable retort changeover. Cooling water from the engine and exhaust gas cooling system is utilized as a heat resource e.g. for central heating. A twin chamber retort can be used to provide fuel gas from e.g. straw, wood waste, etc, which is utilized to run a diesel engine and generate electricity. The diesel engine is brought up to operating temperature on an oil fuel before switching to gas.
