Provided herein are methods for the treatment of liver cancer. These methodsencompass the administration of acompound comprising a modified oligonucleotide, wherein the modifiedoligonucleotide is targeted to a miRNA. Also providedherein are compositions for the treatment of liver cancer. Such compositionsinclude compounds comprising a modifiedoligonucleotide, wherein the modified oligonucleotide is targeted to a miRNA.Certain miRNAs have been identified as overexpressed inliver cancer, such as, for example, hepatocellular carcinoma, and are thusselected for targeting by modified oligonucleotides.Further, certain miRNAs have been identified as overexpressed inhepatocellular carcinoma cells exposed to dioxin, and are thusselected for targeting by modified oligonucleotides. Antisense inhibition ofcertain of these miRNAs has been found to inhibit cellproliferation and induce apoptosis.
