PROBLEM TO BE SOLVED: To provide a method for producing a green tea extract, in which nonpolymeric catechins are recovered efficiently while reducing caffeine from raw tea leaves and whose extract has excellent tea leaf-derived taste.SOLUTION: The method for producing the green tea extract comprises: a step A of bringing raw tea leaves into contact with a first solvent of 85°C or higher temperature for at most 4 minutes and a step B of extracting the tea leaves, which are treated after the step A, by using a second solvent.
