PROBLEM TO BE SOLVED: To provide a system for anchoring a catheter tube or a medical article to a patient without the use of tape or needles and suturing.SOLUTION: The anchoring system 8 comprises a retaining means 10 including a base 14 connected to a cover 22 by way of a flexible hinge 24 and a flexible anchor pad 16 including an adhesive bottom surface, which can be attached to the patients skin. Securing a catheter 15 to a fitting 11 and mounting the fitting 11 to the retaining means 10 can be accomplished by inserting posts 20 of the retaining means 10 through holes 67, 77 of the fitting 11, or by mounting the fitting 11 within a channel defined by mounting structures set integrally with the retaining means 10. The cover 22 is then positioned over the base 14 by bending the flexible hinge 24 and latched to the base 14. The latching mechanism are disclosed.
