A connector 4 comprises a base 30 and a cover 10 defining recesses which open at an interface between the base and cover to receive a pair of rods 2, the cover being secured to the base by securing means 50 to clamp the rods in fixed angular relation. The base includes means 60 for fixing to a support surface to support the rods in spaced parallel relation to the support surface, for example, to form a garden trellis. Retaining means (41, 42, 41, 42, figure 9A) may be provided for retaining the rods in the recesses during assembly. Each of the rods may be secured by an individual clamping arrangement (14, 15, figure 8A) so that the connector may be connected to only one of the rods between their points of intersection.
