PROBLEM TO BE SOLVED: To provide an X-ray CT apparatus capable of generating an expansion energy bin image having an energy width extending over a plurality of energy bins, and a control method for the X-ray CT apparatus.SOLUTION: A photon counting type X-ray CT apparatus 10 of one embodiment includes: an energy discrimination part； a setting part； and an image generating part. The energy discrimination part discriminates a photon transmitted through a subject for one of a predetermined number of energy bins according to the energy of the photon. The setting part sets the energy level and the energy width extending over the plurality of energy bins. The image generating part generates an expansion energy bin image on the basis of information on the photon discriminated for the plurality of energy bins to have the energy level and the energy width extending over the plurality of energy bins among the predetermined number of energy bins.【課題】複数のエネルギービンにわたるエネルギー幅を有する拡張エネルギービン画像を生成することができるＸ線ＣＴ装置およびこのＸ線ＣＴ装置の制御方法を提供する。【解決手段】本発明の一実施形態に係る光子計数型のＸ線ＣＴ装置１０は、エネルギー弁別部、設定部および画像生成部を備える。エネルギー弁別部は、被検体を透過した光子を光子の有するエネルギーに応じて所定数のエネルギービンのいずれかに弁別する。設定部は、エネルギーレベルおよび複数のエネルギービンにわたるエネルギー幅を設定する。画像生成部は、エネルギーレベルを有するとともに所定数のエネルギービンのうちの複数のエネルギービンにわたるエネルギー幅を有するよう、複数のエネルギービンに弁別された光子の情報にもとづいて拡張エネルギービン画像を生成する。【選択図】 図１
