PROBLEM TO BE SOLVED: To provide a biological information acquisition apparatus capable of highly accurately imaging the position and the size of an absorber.SOLUTION: This subject information acquisition apparatus includes: an acoustic wave detector detecting an acoustic wave generated from a subject and arranged with a plurality of elements converting the acoustic wave into an electric signal a movement control means for moving the acoustic wave detector and a signal processor for reconstructing subject information based on the electric signal. The acoustic wave detector detects the acoustic wave at a first position and detects the acoustic wave at a second position after moving to the second position having the overlapping region with a part of the region of the first position by the movement control means.
