The invention relates to a gaseous composition containing xenon as active ingredient for use in preventing or limiting tumour cell migration and/or limiting or preventing metastasis formation in an individual suffering from cancer. The prevention or limitation of tumour cell migration is obtained through the action of the xenon on free cancer cells. The xenon acts on the free cancer cells carried by the blood. The effective volume proportion of xenon is between 5% and 79%, it is preferably at least 50%. The gaseous composition also contains a volume proportion of oxygen (O2) of at least 21%. It is administered by inhalation or insufflation.Linvention porte sur une composition gazeuse contenant du xénon en tant que principe actif pour une utilisation pour prévenir ou pour limiter une migration des cellules tumorales et/ou à limiter ou à empêcher une formation de métastase chez un individu atteint dun cancer. La prévention ou limitation de la migration des cellules tumorales est obtenue par action du xénon sur les cellules cancéreuses libres. Le xénon agit sur les cellules cancéreuses libres véhiculées par le sang. La proportion volumique efficace de xénon est comprise entre 5 et 79%, de préférence elle est dau moins 50%. La composition gazeuse contient en outre une proportion volumique doxygène (O2) dau moins 21%. Elle est administrée par inhalation ou insufflation.
