PROBLEM TO BE SOLVED: To provide a separator for separating hairy roots from soil for strawberry cultivation. SOLUTION: The separator comprises a square cylinder shaped hairy-root separation frame 1, and a hairy-root selection table 2 slanted at a prescribed angle from just below of the frame 1. The separator is structured as follows: two rotary shafts 3 are supported in parallel to each other in the hairy-root separation frame 1 and rotated each in an inside direction, a plurality of rotary blades having projections 15 at each of the rotary shafts 3 are fixed in parallel to each other; a low-speed rotary blade 4 is placed at one of the rotary shafts 3, and a high-speed rotary blade 5 is placed at the other rotary shaft 3 so as to be interposed between the rotary blades to each other to fill the sectional area in the hairy-root separation frame 1. The hairy-root selection table 2 is hung via a spring and integrally provided with a vibration creating motor, and a flat board part 6 is provided just below of the hairy-root separation frame 1 of the hairy-root selection table 2, and portions declining down from the flat board part comprise rows of thin round bars 7 arranged in parallel to the direction of the hairy-root selection table 2 so that a cultivation planter receives the soil falling down through gaps between the round bars 7 to gather and remove the hairy roots falling down through the lower end of the declining rows of the round bars 7.
