The present invention relates to an apparatus (1) for collecting fluid during a medical or surgical operation. The apparatus (1) comprises positions for collection containers adapted to receive fluid during a medical or surgical operation, positions for a cartridge (8a) containing solidifying agent and a reservoir (8b) adapted to receive solidifying agent from the cartridge (8a), and a tube leading from the reservoir (8b) to the inlet (26) for solidifying agent. The collection container comprises an inlet (25) for a collection container tube, an inlet (24) for vacuum and an inlet (26) for solidifying agent. The tube is provided with means for dispensing the solidifying agent.
