A method for the recycling a particulate mineral by-product formed during the sawing, edging, polishing or the like of a calcium carbonate-containing rock, wherein the particulate mineral by-product contains calcium carbonate containing particles having a particle size such that the d90 is between 0.01 and 200 micron, wherein the particulate mineral by-product is at least partially dewatered by mixing with quicklime. Such recycled sludge is suitable for use as a soil improver, as an additive for construction materials and as an additive for plastics for improving the impact resistance.
