The present invention relates to a carbohydrate mixture comprising a first fiber containing material and a second fiber containing material wherein the first fiber containing material is wheat bran derived arabinoxylan-oligosaccharides having an average degree of polymerisation of at least 2 to 100 and optionally wheat bran derived xylo-oligosaccharides having an average degree of polymerisation of at least 2 to 100, and wherein the second fiber containing carbohydrate based material is endosperm derived xylo-oligosaccharides and arabinoxylan-oligosaccharides having an average degree of polymerisation of at least 50 to 100 and/or hydrogenated endosperm derived xylo-oligosaccharides and arabinoxylanoligosaccharides having an average degree of polymerisation of at least 50 to 100； and wherein the wheat bran derived arabinoxylan-oligosaccharides and xylo-oligosaccharides are soluble in water.
