The present invention relates to a composite material comprising matrix material in an amount of 20-40 weight-% of the total composition, filler material in an amount of 40-60 weight-% of the total composition, and inorganic fibre material an amount of 10-30 weight-% of the total composition, wherein the inorganic fibre material comprises short fibres having an average length of 80-300 µm and a diameter of 4-12 µm, in an amount of 20-80 weight-% of the total amount of fibre material and long fibres having an average length of 500-1300 µm and a diameter of 8-27 µm in an amount of 20-80 weight-% of the total amount of fibre material. The invention also relates to the use of this material in dentistry, especially as restorative filler material.
