PROBLEM TO BE SOLVED: To provide an absorber manufacturing apparatus and manufacturing method capable of molding recessed portions with high water absorbability without using a molding tool with protrusions in a process of manufacturing absorbers.SOLUTION: An absorber manufacturing apparatus manufactures absorbers by conveying fiber materials and water absorptive polymer using an airflow flowing in a duct, forming a molding tool on an outer peripheral surface of a rotary drum rotationally turning in the circumferential direction and accumulating the absorber materials. The absorber manufacturing apparatus includes a supply part that is disposed at an airflow downstream side of a supply part of the fiber materials and a supply part of the water absorptive polymer to face the molding tool, and supplies atmosphere to a part in the molding tool, to form recessed portions on an absorber. This configuration can control air supply of the supply part to form the desired-shape recessed portions on the absorber without using a molding tool with protrusions.SELECTED DRAWING: Figure 3【課題】吸収体を製造する過程において、凸部を有する成形型を用いることなく吸水性の高い凹部を成形することが可能な吸収体製造装置および製造方法を提案する。【解決手段】繊維素材と吸水性ポリマーとをダクト内を流れる空気流を用いて搬送し、周方向に回動する回転ドラムの外周面に成形型を形成し、堆積させることによって、吸収体を製造する吸収体製造装置であり、繊維素材の投入部および吸水性ポリマーの投入部よりも空気流の下流側において、成形型に対向するように配置され、成形型内の一部に大気を供給して吸収体に凹部を形成する供給部を備える。供給部の大気供給を制御することにより、凸部を有する成形型を用いることなく、吸収体に所望の形状の凹部を形成できる。【選択図】図３
