A monitoring system, comprising: a monitoring component (10), a main controller (20), and a power supply unit (30). The monitoring component (10) has a flat structure. The monitoring component (10) comprises: a piezoelectric thin film sensor (12) and a thin film contact sensor (13). The main controller (20) is connected to a monitoring component (10). The power supply unit (30) is connected to the main controller (20). The power supply unit (30) supplies power to the main controller (20). The piezoelectric thin film sensor (12) is used to monitor physiological characteristics information of a test subject. The thin film contact sensor (13) is used to monitor whether the test subject is located away from the monitoring component (10). When the tested subject is placed on the monitoring component (10), the monitoring component (10) refers to the physiological characteristics information of the test subject to generate a corresponding monitoring signal. The main controller (20) then acquires a monitoring result by referring to the monitoring signal. When the test subject leaves the monitoring component (10), the main controller (20) receives bed departure information. The technical solution provided by the embodiment does not require a user to wear a device.
