PROBLEM TO BE SOLVED: To realize that a cation such as Ca and Mg contained in water cannot be precipitated as a salt and a nanometer-sized mist can be generated by stably performing electrostatic atomization with no maintenance for a long period of time.
SOLUTION: The electrostatic atomization apparatus 6 has a water reservoir part 1 a conveying part 2, which distal end is a needle like atomization part 11, for conveying water from the water reservoir 1 a water application electrode 4 capable of applying a voltage to water in a route leading from the water reservoir part 1 to the needle like atomization part 11 of a distal end of the conveying part 2 and a voltage application part 5 for applying a high voltage to the water application electrode 4. The conveying part 2 is constituted by porous ceramic made from solid acid as a material. The water reached at the needle like atomization part 11 causes Rayleigh breakup with the high voltage and generates the nanometer-sized mist.
