PROBLEM TO BE SOLVED: To provide an absorbent article which is excellent in the liquid absorbency, moisture permeability and gas permeability of an absorber and suppresses the user from having stuffiness or rash.SOLUTION: An absorber 4 has a first area 45 extending in a longitudinal direction X and a second area 46 which adjoins the first area 45 in a lateral direction Y and extends along the first area 45, the basis weight of an absorbent material such as a water-absorbing polymer is smaller in the second area 46 than in the first area 45. An opening 47 penetrating in the second area 46 in a thickness direction is formed in the second area 46.
