An objective of the present invention is to provide a spherical absorbing carbon for medical use having high absorption ability and high absorption speed for toxic substances.For attaining the above-mentioned objective, the present invention provides an absorbing agent for medical use made of activated carbon, the activated carbon using granular phenol resin as raw material and having a total acid radical weight of 0.16meg/q or lower, a weight reduction ratio of which when being heated to 100℃~900℃ in a nitrogen environment is 2% or lower, a fine-pore volume of diameter 0.0075~15μm of which is 0.1~1.0mL/g, a BET specific surface area of which is 800~2000m2/g, and an averaged particle diameter of which is 0.1~1.5mm.本發明之課題係提供毒素物質之吸附性能高且吸附速度亦快的醫療用球形吸附碳。本發明係提供一種由以粒狀酚系樹脂作為原料、且全酸性基量為0.16meq/g以下、於氮氣蒙氣下從100℃加熱至900℃時之重量減少率為2%以下、直徑0.0075至15 μm之細孔容積為0.1至1.0mL/g、BET比表面積為800至2000m2/g、平均粒徑為0.1至1.5mm的活性碳所構成的醫療用吸附劑，而解決前述課題。
