PROBLEM TO BE SOLVED: To provide a spherical adsorbing carbon for medical use having high adsorption performance and high adsorption rate of toxic substances.SOLUTION: The adsorbing agent for medical use is composed of activated carbon produced by using a granular phenolic resin as a raw material and has a total acidic group content of &le0.16 meq/g, a weight loss of &le2% measured by heating from 100°C to 900°C in nitrogen atmosphere, a pore volume of 0.1-1.0 mL/g for pores having a diameter of 0.0075-15 &mum, a BET specific surface area of 800-2,000 m2/g and an average particle diameter of 0.1-1.5 mm.
