SOLUTION: A promotor for inducing differentiation of precursor fat cells containing catalpalactone, a preventive and ameliorating agent for diabetes containing catalpalactone, a preventive and ameliorating agent for insulin resistant syndromes containing catalpalactone, a promotor for inducing differentiation of the precursor fat cells containing an extract of Catalpae Fructus, a preventive and ameliorating agent for diabetes containing the extract of Catalpae Fructus, a preventive and ameliorating agent for the insulin resistant syndromes containing the extract of Catalpae Fructus, foods and drinks containing catalpalactone, foods and drinks containing the catalpalactone-containing extract of Catalpae Fructus are provided. In preparing the extract for the agents, foods and drinks, wood parts of Catalpae Fructus are used.
