To provide a technique for treating stretched roots appropriately in already planted and grown trees and for suppressing stretching of the root to the surface of the root in subsequent growth.SOLUTION: A covering member 1 is a member used for covering roots positioned near the roughly front side of the root after cutting. The covering member 1 is used in a state of being inclined forward toward the root after cutting. The covering member 1 is a concave member formed by bending a substantially rectangular plate 1 a to a certain extent on the front side around a substantially central longitudinal axis. A plurality of slit grooves 1 b are provided in the concave portion (the surface facing the roots) of the covering member 1. Here, the slit groove 1 b is a groove having a substantially semicircular cross section and has a certain length along the longitudinal axis direction. Using the covering member 1 with such a configuration makes it possible for the roots extended after cutting to hit the covering member 1 to extend in the underground direction and to suppress the extension of the roots to the surface of the formation layer.(FIG.【課題】既に植えられ成長した樹木において,伸展した根を適切に処理するとともに,その後の成長において根の地層表面への伸展を抑止するための技術を提供する。【解決手段】被覆部材1は,切断した後の根の略正面側近傍に位置させて当該根を覆うために用いられる部材である。被覆部材1は,切断した後の根に向かって前傾させた状態で使用される。被覆部材1は,略矩形状の板体1aを,略中央の縦軸を中心に正面側に一定程度湾曲させて形成した凹状部材からなっている。被覆部材1の凹部(根との対向面)には,複数のスリット溝1bが設けられている。ここで,スリット溝1bは,断面略半円状の溝であって,縦軸方向に沿って一定程度の長さを有している。かかる構成の被覆部材1を用いれば,切断後に伸展した根が,当該被覆部材1に当たって地中方向に伸展することとなり,地層表面への根の伸展を抑制することが可能となる。【選択図】図6
