PROBLEM TO BE SOLVED: To avoid, in an OCT apparatus, the appearance of a ghost in the vicinity of an image of a subject that would affect diagnosis.SOLUTION: There is provided an optical tomographic apparatus, comprising: image generation means for generating a tomographic image including a subject, based on tomographic information acquired from coherent light obtained by multiplexing return light from the subject irradiated with measurement light split from light emitted from a light source, with reference light split from the emitted light drive means for driving a measurement optical system which guides the measurement light to the subject, such that the activation distance between the subject and the measurement optical system becomes a predetermined activation distance and adjustment means for adjusting the difference between the optical path length of the measurement light and the optical path length of the reference light to a predetermined optical path length difference.
