The invention also relates to a method for producing a three-dimensional modelof at least apartial region of a jaw for producing a dental restoration, comprising thestep of: fully-automaticshaping of at least one recess for accommodating a laboratory analogue intothe alveolar ridgeof the model, whereby the three-dimensional scanning data is used in theshaping and thedepth, position, and orientation of the at least one recess are shaped suchthat the crestal endof the laboratory analogue inserted into said recess coincides with thecrestal end of the dentalimplant in the jaw of the patient or fully-automatic shaping of at least onevestibular, lingual orpalatinal feed-through through the model into the at least one recess, wherebythe three-dimensionalscanning data are used in the shaping and the feed-through is arranged suchthatthe crestal end of a laboratory analogue coincides with the crestal end of thedental implant inthe jaw of the patient when the laboratory analogue is fixed in place with apin that is insertedthrough the feed-through in the model into an opening in the laboratoryanalogue.
