PROBLEM TO BE SOLVED: To provide an absorbent article that enhances a fit to a groove-shaped recess extending along the root of a thigh at the crotches.SOLUTION: An absorber 13 has an overhanging portion 13S that overhangs outward in the width direction beyond both longitudinal sides of a crotch section. A three-dimensional gather BS at least extends around a side of the absorber 13 from the overhanging portion 13S of the absorber 13 and up to the top of a side of a surface sheet 11, and has a root portion at a position located on the back of the absorber 13, the root portion being secured to a member adjacent to the front side. Of the portion of the three-dimensional gather BS beyond the root portion and close to an end, both longitudinal ends are formed into non-standing portions 18 secured to the adjacent member, and a mid portion between the non-standing portions 18 is formed into an unsecured free portion 19.
