PROBLEM TO BE SOLVED: To enable double-sided printing of a tablet and suppress the occurrence of unprinted articles due to a busy state in a DOD type ink jet tablet printer.SOLUTION: In a tablet printer 1, a front surface printing part 3 for printing on a front surface of a tablet 2 and a rear surface printing part 4 for printing on a rear surface are arranged in a vertical direction. The tablet printer 1 transfers the tablet 2 by a conveying belt 5 from the lower side to the upper side, and performs double-sided printing of the tablet 2. The conveying belt 5 adsorbs and conveys the tablet 2, inverts the front and rear of the tablet 2 printed by the front surface printing part 3, and conveys the inverted tablet 2 to the rear surface printing part 4. Each printing part 3, 4 is provided with print heads 21, 31, tablet detection sensors 28, 29, 36, 37 for detecting the tablet 2 on the conveying belt 5, lighting devices 25-27, 34, 35, and cameras 22-24, 32, 33 for confirming a state of the tablet 2 and a printing status.
