A multifunctionalized modified polymer binder for a lithium ion battery. The binder is modifiedly prepared by means of a free radical graft copolymerization reaction or a Michael addition reaction by using a biomass polymer or a synthetic polymer as a substrate and using a hydrophilic monomer and an oleophilic monomer as functionalized modified monomers. The binder has a three-dimensional space network with a multi-branch structure, so that more active sites will come into contact with an electrode active material, and the uniformity and smoothness during the film formation of an electrode slurry can be improved; and the peeling strength of the active material and a conductive agent on a metal substrate is reinforced. The binder has excellent elasticity and binding force, can be applied to water/organic solvent, or to the positive electrode and negative electrodes of a lithium ion battery, and can promote the conduction of electrons/ions in the charging-discharging process, so that the electrochemical interfa
