The invention relates to an internal manipulator (1) for traversing pipe systems (2), in particular branch lines (3) in pipe systems (2), comprising a crawling system (4) with at least two crawling elements (4a; 4b; 4c). Adjacent crawling elements (4a; 4b; 4c) are connected by at least two bellows (5a; 5b; 5c; 5d). Each of at least two crawling elements (4a; 4b; 4c) has a fixing device (6) for fixing the crawling element (4a; 4b; 4c) in the pipe (7). The invention is characterized in that the bellows (5a; 5b; 5c; 5d) are designed to be expandable and/or compressible independently of each other such that the internal manipulator (1) can bend into branch lines (3), whereby at least one of the bellows (5a; 5b; 5c; 5d) is compressed and at least another of the bellows (5a; 5b; 5c; 5d) is expanded.
