The present invention relates to a hydrogel of carboxyalkylamide of chitosan, characterized in that it has a pH value close to that of the skin, between 6.5 and 7.2, and in that the carboxyalkylamide of chitosan is consisting of 40 to 90% by moles of N-carboxyalkylamide units of D-glucosamine of formula (I) where n represents an integer ranging from 1 to 8, from 60 to 10% by moles of protonated D-glucosamine units, and of 5 to 15 mol% of N-acetyl-D-glucosamine units.
