The present invention relates to a chitosan carboxyalkylamide hydrogel, characterizedin that it has a pH value close to that of skin, between 6.5 and 7.2, and in that thechitosan carboxyalkylamide comprises from 40 to 90 mol% of D-glucosamine N-carboxyalkylamideunits of formula (I) where n is an integer ranging from 1 to 8, from 60 to 10 mol% ofprotonated D-glucosamine units, and from 5 to 15 mol% of N-acetyl-D-glucosamineunits. The present invention also relates to a product of dehydration of sucha gel and to the cosmetic and/or dermatological use of the gel and of the dehydrationproduct.
