PROBLEM TO BE SOLVED: To solve problems in which original effect of astaxanthin in an external preparation for skin is not sufficiently exhibited, because the contents of astaxanthin fatty acid ester and haematococcus alga extract in the preparation can not be increased because of strong coloring and they have problems concerning stability and absorption properties, though astaxanthin fatty acid ester and astaxanthin-containing haematococcus alga extract are useful as the external preparation for skin.SOLUTION: The composition for external preparation for skin is obtained by formulating an astaxanthin fatty acid ester with a fatty acid (isolation type, mono, di- or tri-glyceride type, phospholipid type, alcohol type, ether type, sugar ester type or polyglycelol ester type) fitted with a composition of a fatty acid constituting the astaxanthin fatty acid ester and an external preparation for skin.
