PROBLEM TO BE SOLVED: To provide a composition for preparing an external carbon dioxide agents with ease in a short period of time providing more intense aesthetic and medical effects in a short period of time without smearing clothes or the like.SOLUTION: The compositions for preparing external carbon dioxide agents is essentially composed of a water soluble acid, a thickening agent and a water soluble dispersing agent, wherein the thickening agent is essentially composed of a mixed granular product of the water soluble acid and the water soluble dispersing agent, a carbonate, water, a specific thickening agent and a polyhydric alcohol, and a viscous composition is mixed with the granular product before use. The water soluble acid, the thickening agent and the water soluble dispersing agent in the granular product are blended at a particular mixed ratio, and the carbonate, water and the thickening agent in the viscous product are blended at a particular mixed ratio.
