PROBLEM TO BE SOLVED: To provide an endoscope having a configuration that facilitates accurate detection of water leakage, and also to provide a method for detecting water leakage in the endoscope.
SOLUTION: The endoscope comprises an insertion section inserted into a conduit and an operating section of the insertion section. In the endoscope, a gap formed between the outer surface of at least one of the insertion section and the operating section and their built-in elements is filled with a material 200 that turns into solid, gel or jelly upon contacting with liquid.
