To provide a detection-target visualization apparatus and visualization method that can detect and display, on a screen, a target existing in a space (S) and being invisible to the naked eye and that are excellent in terms of simplicity and intuition. When the existence of a detection target is detected, a detection means (2) that emits a light having a predetermined color is used to scan along predetermined paths in a space (S). A mode of a shooting means (4) that can shoot a light locus, such as a long time exposure shooting, is used to superimpose on an optical image and shoot on the screen the light streams emitted by the detection means (2) during the scanning. The image obtained by this shooting is then recorded on a display means (5), whereby the distribution, intensity, direction and the like of the detection target, generated from a generation source (6), in the space (S) are visualized.
