A method for calibrating a meter in a distribution device, wherein the device has a frame supported at least partially by wheels for movement over the surface, a hopper for containing the distributed product, a meter at the lower end of the hopper for regulating the flow rate of product dispensing from the hopper, a distribution system that receives the product from the meter, while the method contains: setting the meter to the nominal calibration mode for the product in the hopper； operation of the device on the site at the nominal calibration mode； reading the number of revolutions of the meter when the device is operating； determining the change in the amount of product in the hopper during the operation of the device on the site； use of changes in the amount of product in the hopper and the number of revolutions of the meter to calculate the flow rate of the meter per revolution of the meter； and setting the meter to the desired calibration value based on the calculated meter flow rate per meter revolution. 2. The method of claim 1, wherein the change in the amount of product in the bin is determined by measuring the flow of the product through the distribution system. The method according to claim 1, in which the change in the amount of product in the bin is determined by: determining the initial amount of the product in the bin before operation of the device； determining the final amount of product in the bin after operation of the device； and calculating the difference between the initial and final quantities of product in the bin. 4.
