The present disclosure relates to disposable absorbent articles that are completely biodegradable and compostable. The disposable absorbent articles of the present invention comprise a top- and back-sheet made up of biodegradable and compostable thermoplastic aliphatic polyester and an absorbent core that is made of a pulp material derived from varying combinations of naturally occurring biodegradable products, including, but not limited to agriculture-waste, plant materials, and cotton knitwear waste. The absorbent core formed from unique combinations of the naturally occurring biodegradable materials can afford a most effective fluid absorption and retention property to the disposable absorbent article.
