PROBLEM TO BE SOLVED: To provide a moist and heat sterilization method of containers which is excellent in transparency, heat endurance and cleanness.SOLUTION: The moist and heat sterilization method for products whose contents are hermetically packed in a container made of ethylene resin satisfying the following requirements (a) and (b) includes a sterilization step and a cooling step. After the sterilization step has sterilized the container at 116-126°C, the cooling step cools the product with coolant of 10-30°C. (a) In accordance with JIS K7151, the maximum value of the scattering intensity does not appear on the scattering intensity distribution curve at the azimuth angle of 45 degrees that a compression molded test piece with compression thickness of 100 μm is obtained by Hv light scattering measurement.
