PROBLEM TO BE SOLVED: To provide an occlusion access system.SOLUTION: Provided is a catheter system for accessing the central venous system through an occlusion in the neck region. The present invention relates to a catheter system used to gain access to the central venous system of a patient through an occluded large vessel in the neck at a location near the clavicle. In contrast to conventional practice the central venous system is approached from the inside out, with the initial entry point in the groin area and an exit location near and usually above the clavicle.
