PROBLEM TO BE SOLVED: To provide a transfer device and a transfer method capable of reducing a load to a care-receiver.SOLUTION: The transfer device 1 includes arms 11 and 12 and a holder 13. The holder 13 holds an upper half of the body of a care-receiver. The arm 12 is connected with the holder 13, and capable of changing a relative position to the arm 11. The transfer device 1 stretches the knee of the care-receiver by increasing a distance between the holder 13 and a contact surface by using the arms 11 and 12 while the care-receiver is held by the holder 13. And the transfer device 1 performs a transfer operation while the knee of the care-receiver is stretched.
