PROBLEM TO BE SOLVED: To provide a water absorptive material capable of absorbing water from a contact surface of a food even when the contact surface is oblique.SOLUTION: The water absorptive material includes a drip sheet 1, an upper-surface sheet 2, a lower-surface sheet 3 and a water absorption sheet 4 arranged between the upper-surface and lower-surface sheets 2, 3. The upper-surface sheet 2 has an open-pore area 22 which is penetrable to liquid and has two or more liquid-penetrable upper-surface open pores 21 and a non-opened-pore area 23. In the non-opened-pore area 23, an indication element 6 visible from the side of the upper surface of the upper-surface sheet 2 is formed. In the upper-surface sheet 2, there is formed a concave-streak part 7 which is depressed from the upper-surface side of the upper-surface sheet 2 to the surface opposite to the water absorption sheet 4, with at least a part superimposed on the upper-surface open pores 21. The concave-streak part 7 has the first part 71 formed along the virtual longitudinal center line P-P and the second and third parts 72 and 73 intersecting the first part 71.
