1304082 Cutting tools P S HAST 5 Aug 1970 [6 Aug 1969] 37760/70 Headings B4B and B4W A tool for cutting branches, hoses, or electrical conductors comprises a stationary part 1 with an abutment 3 and a cutting part displaceable toward the abutment, the abutment and cutting part being separable to allow an object to be cut to be inserted between them. The cutting part is a thin steel blade 4 guided in a slot in a guide member 6 which is displaceable towards the abutment 3 and co-operates with a guide in the part 1, and the blade 4 and member 6 cooperate with spring means 13 which tend to retain the blade 4 within the member 6. As described, the member 6 is carried by a rod 8 and the blade 4 carries a rack 9 one end of which is apertured to receive the rod 8 and engages the spring means 13. A pivoted leg 2 carries a spring-loaded pawl 10 which, when the leg is pivoted, engages the rack 9 to advance the blade 4 out of the member 6 and cut the object. After cutting the pawl 10 is disengaged from the rack 9 by a curved portion 15 to permit the rack to be returned by spring 13.
